The Cobalt RaQ 550 was part of the fifth and final series of Cobalt RaQ appliances, alongside the RaQ XTR. Shipped with a 1.0 or 1.26 GHz Pentium III and upto 2GB of PC133 ECC SDRAM, and two UltraATA IDE Bays, the Cobalt RaQ made for a space & energy efficient server in it’s time.

Unfortunately the RaQ 550 has a custom boot rom, and limited kernel upgrade path (for now).

Projects

  • netbooting the rescue system
  • netbooting debian woody
  • flashing cobalt-2.10.3-flat-2MB bootrom
  • installing debian woody to a drive
  • creating new bootrom for the RaQ 550
  • recreating the missing linux drivers
  • running other operating systems
